Teens volunteer with WSA Micro Soccer
With life so busy, it’s nice to know that teenagers are still making time to lend a helping hand.

Six soccer players shared their soccer skills and love of the game by volunteering their time in the WSA Fall Micro Soccer program – an introduction to the sport of soccer with emphasis on fun and building individual skills.

WSA Micro Soccer sessions are held for kids in Kindergarten – Fourth grade over the course of six Saturday mornings. If you’ve driven down Publishers Pkwy Saturday mornings, you’ve no doubt noticed the 400 young players out in front of the WSA facility kicking the balls around and having fun.

Volunteers for the Fall Micro Soccer program were:
Connor Delaney
Avery Gnolek
Sara Gnolek
Leslie Infantino
Tim Kersey
Robert Matina

Per Malcolm Kersery, WSA Director of Coaching U6 - U10, “After running Micro Soccer at WSA now for over eight years, this was one of the most rewarding seasons because we had former Micro Soccer players returning to help out with the program. Sara, Connor, and Tim played in WSA Micro Soccer since Kindergarten, have come through the Player Development Program, and now play Travel soccer for WSA. They all remember the fun times at Micro Soccer and asked to help out with the young players so they could give some time back to the program. It is very rewarding and shows great characteristics of these six teenagers.”

Regardless of the weather, these volunteers showed up every week for six Saturdays to assist the adult Facilitators. They participated in preseason Facilitator Training and were well prepared each week by reading the lesson plans. The volunteers were energetic and their enthusiasm for sharing their soccer skills added to the experience for the young Micro Soccer players.

Malcolm Kersey adds, “What great role models these teenagers are for the young players!”
